Modeling

Modeling is the basis for NLP, which began with two rebels (Bandler and Grinder) modeling two loners (Erickson and Satir). Then came Dilts, who modeled the likes of Einstein, Sherlock Holmes, Aristotle, Jesus and others.

We can learn a lot from the writings and seminars of these pioneers, but anything we learn from these good people is still 3 steps removed from the original magic they observed.

So there is a great need for ongoing modeling, where we all learn through direct observation of excellence. Here are the basic steps we can all master:

Elicitation

Elicitation is the art of gaining rapport with the subject, so that artful questions can reveal the underlying structure of their strategies.

Coding

Coding strategies is identifying and arranging the TOTEs in sequence, using the submodalities of the subject.

Installation

Installation is the use of anchors to embed the strategies into our neural networks, so that evoking the strategy in real time and in appropriate situations is automatic.

Utilization

Utilization involves both the use of the new strategy in real life, and using feedback to tune up the strategy so that performance and ecology are enhanced.
