NLP teaches us that we are responsible (or response-able) for our states. We are empowered to change our states when required or desired.

States have a kind of momentum of their own, and so just like a car or a train in motion, we need to know how to engage the controls to make a directional change.

Breaking State

Breaking state could also be thought of as "braking" state. It is a way of interrupting the momentum and energy of a given or induced state. This is done to allow the process to be repeated from beginning to end multiple times during a session, which allows the client to learn to create the state quickly and distinguish the state from what ever state came before.

Changing State

Through the use of anchors, we are able to facilitate the switch from an unresourceful state to a resourceful one.
