Are you someone that can benefit from learning the language patterns of a modern master teacher? Eckhart Tolle is a master teacher now for millions, yet he does not know how to use email. Eckhart employs many language patterns worth modeling by the serious NLP student wishing to influence people spiritually.

Eckhart's language patterns are filled with nominalizations, unspecified verbs, unspecified referential indexes, causal links, mind-reading, universal quantifiers, modal operators, awareness predicates, use of "or", analogue marking, presuppositions of existence, presupposing adverbs and adjectives, lost performatives, etc., all classic language patterns from Milton Erickson. This video is packed with them!

While I personally believe Eckhart is absolutely sincere, and that the content of his message may be both inspiring and timely, I'm more interested here in studying him as a model of congruence and effectiveness in delivering spiritual content through spoken language. Whether he interests you or not, you can begin to understand the appeal he has for millions. Contrast him with other teachers, and you'll see why he is unique, and why he communicates as much through his presence as through his carefully chosen words.

Notice his eye accessing cues and try to determine which parts of his mental experience he is accessing while delivering his message. Is he reading from a script? Is he recalling this stuff from memory? Is he making it up? Do you find him to be manipulative, or sincere? Why? What conveys it to you?

Notice also at which neurological level Eckhart's content connects. Does he dwell most on the environment, behavior, capabilities and skills, values and beliefs, identity, or spirituality? What ratio of his message is allocated to each of these levels? How does he traverse the various levels?

I want to extend John Grinder's challenge to NLPers everywhere to model excellence wherever it is found. It is the lifeblood of NLP, and indeed of the study and learning of excellence. Your comments are welcome.
